The 1-day workshop Towards a Vision of STEM Community for All by math leadership experts Prof. Abbe Herzig, Prof. Aris Winger, and Prof. Emily Moore was a success, with roughly 30 math faculty, alumni, graduate students, staff, and administrators, and several members from three other departments. Participants followed guided presentations by the facilitators including question prompts to share experiences, then formed working groups. We produced about a hundred action items and have begun implementing them in the department and beyond. There was a common interest from students and faculty alike for this workshop to be annual.
The EIC regularly holds themed community action meetings to generate discussion and feedback on a specific topic. After the meeting, a list of specific policy recommendations proposed at these meetings is created. To view these lists, please use the contact form.
The EIC generates a yearly report that is presented at the annual State of the Department meeting.
