(2005), we study the following leading order linear model for damped gravity water waves<br>\\[\u00a0\\partial_t^2\u00a0U + |D| U +\u00a0\\chi\u00a0\\partial_tU =\u00a00\u00a0\\]<br>We show that the energy of the solution has polynomial decay by proving a resolvent estimate.
